Try on a design
Tattoo try on shows a tattoo design on your own skin before you commit to it. Add a photo of the spot, choose the design, from Tattoonic or your tattoo artist, and pick Small, Medium or Large: you see it as a healed tattoo that follows your body, your skin and the light of your photo.

What it is good for
It is for the moment before you book: you have a design, or a few, and want to see it on you. People try a design they made in Tattoonic or a drawing their tattoo artist sent, and compare spots and sizes, such as Small on the back of a hand or Large on a calf. Seeing it on your own body, in your own light, makes the choice easier to talk through with your artist.
Tips for your two photos
For the spot, use daylight or bright, even light, hold the camera straight on to the skin and keep the whole spot in the frame with some skin around it. Move clothes and hair out of the way and skip filters. For the design, photograph it flat and straight on, all of it in the frame, with no shadow or glare from glossy paper or a screen. The paper or background is left out, so a plain one works best.
What it does not do
It makes a picture, not a tattoo: a reference to take to your tattoo artist, who will adapt the lines, size and placement to your body. It does not predict how your skin heals or how the ink fades, and it gives no medical advice. It keeps your photo as it is, with the same body, pose, clothes, light and framing, and changes only the skin where the design goes.
Questions and answers
More answers in HelpCan I see a tattoo on me before I get it?
Yes. Add a photo of the spot, choose the design and a size, and Tattoonic shows it as a healed tattoo on your skin, keeping the rest of your photo as it is.
Can I try on a design from my tattoo artist?
Yes. Save the image they sent you, or take a sharp photo of the drawing flat and straight on, then choose it as the design. The tool copies its lines, colors and any words.
Where on my body can I try a tattoo?
Anywhere you can photograph clearly: a forearm, a hand, a calf, a shoulder or your upper back. Keep the whole spot in the frame, with some skin around it.
Is tattoo try on free?
Yes. The free plan makes 3 designs a day, each with a watermark, and Pro makes up to 50 a day without it. Each try-on counts as one design.
