Fade / removal

A tattoo removal preview is a picture of your tattoo made lighter or gone. Tattoonic's Fade / removal takes a photo of your tattoo and one stage, from after 3 sessions to fully removed, and gives you an illustration to look at before you decide. It is not a forecast of real results.

What it is good for

People use it when they are thinking about laser sessions and are curious how the end might look. Compare After 3 sessions with Fully removed, or choose Faded for a cover-up to picture an old tattoo light enough to tattoo over. It is only an illustration, so use it as a starting point for the talk with a clinic or your tattoo artist.

Tips for your photo

Photograph the tattoo straight on, at arm's length, in daylight or good indoor light, without flash. Keep the whole tattoo and some bare skin around it in the frame, and keep your phone steady so the lines are sharp. A healed tattoo is the best fit, because it is what this tool is made for.

What it does not do

It shows a tattoo as a picture. It does not predict how many sessions you need, how your skin will react or what a treatment will leave, and it gives no medical advice. On your photo it changes only the tattoo and keeps your body, the light and the framing as they were.

Questions and answers

More answers in Help
Does the preview tell me how many laser sessions I need?

No. The stages are pictures to look at, not a forecast. Only a clinic that has seen your tattoo and your skin can tell you what a treatment involves.

Can I see a tattoo faded enough to cover up?

Yes. Pick Faded for a cover-up to see the tattoo light enough to tattoo over. You can then try new designs over it with the Cover-up tool.

How many previews can I make?

Free accounts get 3 designs a day, and Pro gives 50 a day. Every tool shares the same daily designs.

Does it change anything else in my photo?

It changes only the tattoo. Your skin, the pose, the light and the framing stay the same, so you can compare the result with your own photo.
